2022 HOSA Board Officers Elected

The HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors announced the election results of its 2022 Board Officers which included three alumni members.  The HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors conducted its annual election on Saturday, February 5, and elected Jim Scott (OH HOSA State Advisor), Chairman; Marcus Henderson (PA Alumnus and Health Care Industry Representative), Chair-Elect; Heath Treadway (Alumnus and Alumni Representative), Board Secretary, and the Immediate Past Chair is Dana Stringer (AL HOSA State Advisor).

The newly elected Chair of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors is Jim Scott, Ohio HOSA State Advisor since 2017.  Mr. Scott is no stranger to Career and Technical Education and CTSO’s having served the Agriculture Education community as a classroom teacher; State Supervisor and State FFA Executive Director in Ohio;  Regional Coordinator and State FFA Executive Director in South Carolina; and Student Services Team Leader for the National FFA Organization.  With Jim’s visionary leadership, Ohio HOSA has grown 70% since his arrival just five years ago. Jim has served the HOSA membership as Eastern Region State Advisor Board Representative, Secretary and Chair-Elect. Congratulations, Chairman of the Board.

Marcus Henderson, MSN, RN, HOSA Alumnus, was elected Chair-Elect.  Marcus has served at many levels of the organization beginning his HOSA career as a local chapter member in 2009 at the Franklin Learning Center in Pennsylvania before serving as the Pennsylvania HOSA State President in 2012-2013. Marcus continued serving PENN HOSA as State Officer Coordinator (2017-present) and was on the PENN HOSA Board from (2014-2017). In 2019, he was elected to serve as a Health Industry Board Representative on the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors.  Currently, Marcus is pursuing a Ph.D. in nursing at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

Heath Treadway will serve this year as the 2022 Secretary of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors. He is a HOSA alum and was involved with HOSA at Madison High School in North Carolina. Heath has served NC HOSA as State President in 2010, Competitive Event Lieutenant and State Officer Advisor from 2016-present. Heath was elected to the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors in 2019 as an Alumni Representative –  Allied Health. Mr. Treadway works as an Athletic Trainer at Mission Health, an operating division of HCA Healthcare, based in Asheville, NC, which is the state’s sixth largest health system.  With over 12,000 employees, Mission Health is North Carolina’s sixth-largest health system.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Mars Hill University.

Immediate Past Chair Dana Stringer, HOSA Alum, has served HOSA at the national level since 2016 as the Central Region State Advisor Representative to the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors and, in 2019, was elected Board Secretary, in 2020 she was elected Chair-Elect and elevated in 2021 to Chairman of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors.  Dana has served at nearly every level of the organization beginning her HOSA career as a local chapter member in the 1980s before serving as a HOSA local chapter advisor (2000-2014) and Alabama HOSA State Advisor (2015-2021).  As the Alabama HOSA State Advisor and Education Specialist for Health Science, Ms. Stringer was instrumental in promoting health science education in the classroom and in growing Alabama HOSA.

2021 was a successful year for HOSA-Future Health Professionals.  The HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors voted on the establishment of an Alumni Task Force on drafting the Alumni Development Strategic Plan and a Task Force to review and recommend changes to the Voting Delegate processes and procedures.

The members of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors look forward to welcoming the 10,000 expected delegates of HOSA-Future Health Professionals at the 2022 International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, June 22-25!”
