The HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors conducted its annual election on Saturday, February 3, 2024, and elected Cindy Beck (Cal-HOSA State Advisor), Chair; Dr. David Kelly (OK Alumnus and Alumni Representative), Chair-Elect; Christina Patrin (WI State Advisor and Health Science Consultant Representative), Board Secretary, and the Immediate Past Chair is Marcus Henderson (PENN HOSA Alumnus and State Coordinator).
Cindy Beck is the newly elected 2024 HOSA, Inc. Board Chair. She is currently the California Health Careers Program Consultant, Cal-HOSA State Advisor, and Western Region State Advisor Representative on the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors. HOSA appreciates Cindy for her year of service as Chair-Elect.
Dr. David Kelly is a HOSA alumnus and former National President from Oklahoma who is now a PGY III Resident Physician at the Institute of Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Kelly has been involved with HOSA since 2009, serving in many capacities including National Officer, ILC Educational Symposium presenter, ILC Staff Director, HOSA, Inc. Board member, and a key member on the HOSA Task Force that contributed to the update of HOSA’s mission and creed.
Christina Patrin, M.Ed. is serving a second term as Secretary to the HOSA, Inc. Board. Ms. Patrin is the Wisconsin HOSA State Advisor and Health Science Education Consultant Representative. She has been State Advisor since 2018, while her service to HOSA extends back to 2001 when she was a secondary Health Science Educator and certified Athletic Trainer.
Marcus Henderson, MSN, RN, HOSA Alum, Former HOSA State Officer, and HOSA, Inc. Board Member, Health Industry Representative, served as the 2023 HOSA, Inc. Board Chairman and will continue as the Immediate Past Chairman for one year. Mr. Henderson is a Ph.D. candidate at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, a SAMHSA/American Nurses Association Minority Fellow, and the PENN HOSA Officer Coordinator.
Jim Scott, outgoing Immediate Past Chair and Ohio HOSA State Advisor was honored at the Board Meeting with a special presentation to recognize his years of service to HOSA and leadership on the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors. Mr. Scott has served the HOSA membership as Eastern Region State Advisor Board Representative, Secretary and has completed the three-year term as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chairman on the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors. HOSA-Future Health Professionals is thankful for Mr. Scott’s visionary leadership which brought HOSA through the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded industry partner opportunities, and contributed to HOSA’s growing membership.
2023 was a successful year for HOSA-Future Health Professionals, recording an all-time high membership. The HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors voted on motions which will allow HOSA to best serve its growing membership and strengthen programs offered. HOSA will activate Task Forces and Committees to review HOSA’s strategic plan, membership divisions, and to prepare for HOSA’s 50th Anniversary in 2026!
The members of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors look forward to welcoming the 12,500 expected delegates of HOSA-Future Health Professionals at the 2024 International Leadership Conference in Houston, TX, on June 26-29, 2024!
