Grace Bellamy, a Virginia Beach native and Biology major at The College of William & Mary, is carving her own path in healthcare and leadership. Inspired by the compassion of healthcare workers during her grandfather’s illness, Bellamy’s journey has been one of discovery, growth, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Bellamy’s connection with HOSA began during her freshman year of high school. Drawn by her advisor’s enthusiasm and the welcoming energy of her peers, she quickly embraced the organization’s mission. She recalls her first meeting: “I met so many passionate and kind individuals, which led me to apply for a leadership position for my school’s chapter; not knowing how much it would impact me in the years to come!”
Over the years, Bellamy has held numerous leadership roles in HOSA that highlight her dedication and adaptability. She has served as the State Vice President of Post-Secondary & Alumni Relations, Vice President and Historian of William & Mary’s HOSA chapter, and President of Bayside High School & Health Sciences Academy’s chapter. Currently, Bellamy is the Virginia State President. Throughout her leadership journey, she has emphasized the importance of open communication, collaboration, and diversity, honing her ability to connect with others and foster a flourishing environment.
Her career aspirations reflect her deep-seated passion for healthcare. Bellamy aspires to become a Pediatric Dentist and open her own practice. “I am extremely passionate about quality of care, ensuring patients are able to form a trusted and honest relationship. HOSA has shown me that with other passionate healthcare students, this is more than possible!” she expressed.
Bellamy’s advice to current and prospective HOSA members is clear: seize every opportunity to engage with the organization. Whether it’s through service projects, guest speaker events, or leadership roles, she encourages members to explore the vast opportunities HOSA offers.
“There are so many ways to get involved without holding a leadership position. Don’t be afraid to reach out to an advisor or local leader for more information!” Bellamy said.
