Rishika Anasuri - Secondary Board Representative

“Never allow a person to tell you no who doesn’t have the power to say yes.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

After joining HOSA with no prior knowledge of the organization, Rishika quickly discovered the power of community. At her first Minnesota HOSA State Leadership Conference, she arrived knowing only two people and spent most of her time talking to chaperones. But a chance conversation over jalapeño pizza with another student who felt just as out of place sparked a friendship and showed her how meaningful connections can begin with a single step outside your comfort zone.

Since then, HOSA has become a place of growth and purpose. Whether it was organizing her own advocacy conference, volunteering in her community, or competing in events, HOSA has allowed Rishika to explore and experience her future in healthcare. She is honored to serve as your 2026–2027 International Secondary Board Representative.

Rishika has always aspired to pursue a career in medicine. As a child, her toy stethoscope was practically glued around her neck, always ready to help. Now a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she is studying Biology and Business Administration while working toward a career in Emergency Medicine. She hopes not only to heal her community, but also to advocate for a brighter and more equitable future.

Outside of HOSA, you can find Rishika embarking on yet another 6 AM walk with her best friend. If she’s not listening to a new music release and searching for hidden meanings in every lyric, she’s probably on the hunt for her next favorite sweet treat. When she’s back home, though, she loves nothing more than curling up on the couch with her mom and dog to watch cheesy rom-coms for hours.

From sharing a slice of pizza with a stranger to serving on the International Executive Council, Rishika’s HOSA journey has shown her the power of connection, and she is honored to spend this year helping others do the same.
