Jocelyn Auxier - Western Region Vice President
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” –George Benrard Shaw
After being told for so long about who she was going to be, Jocelyn was introduced to HOSA, the organiztion that showed her that she can be someone of her own volition. Through all of the opportunities she has been given so far through her 5 years a HOSA- Future Health Professionals member, she is most grateful for the people she has met in this amazing organization. From late nights to early mornings, she can thank her mentors, teammates, and fellow members for teaching her critical lessons in empathy, perseverance, and strength. The family she has found in HOSA gave her the confidence to ‘wear her heart on her sleeve’ because she understands that you may never know who needs to see it. She lives for serving others and hoping to be a friend to all. She is beyond honored to serve as the Western Region Vice President this year, hoping to and stand as an example that you can be whoever you want to be.
Jocelyn has a passion for working with children and dreams of becoming a child life specialist, helping hospitals become less scary through play. She is currently a freshman at Texas State University pursing a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences. Her passion doesn’t stop there, you can often find her in a pool teaching swim lessons to anyone who is willing to learn or at the park hosting free summer camps for the kids in her community. Ever since not being able to afford events as a kid, she aims to make sure others experience what she couldn’t. She recognizes the importance of an active community in efforts to minimize substance misuse and preventable diseases. She works tirelessly in creating opportunities to combat the issues by lowering the dependability on pay to play resources for all.
No matter where Jocelyn ends up in life, she will never forget where she started… HOSA. The mentors that supported her through her endeavors, the teammates that taught her the importance of hard work, and the members who showed her that she is valuable no matter who she chooses to be. She hopes her term as Western Region Vice President encourages everyone to Dare to Create their own journey this year.
