Friends,
The month of November is one characterized by recognizing what it is we are thankful for and grateful for in this world — as well as giving back and serving our communities.
And so I am proud to share that I am thankful for you — for each of you — contributing members, advisors, educators, mentors, industry partners, and sponsors of HOSA-Future Health Professionals.
Moreover, I am proud to say that over seven years ago — on my first day of high school — I signed up — I said “yes” — to being a member of HOSA-Future Health Professionals — the only career and technical student organization that can pride itself in being 100% health.
And I’ve been in awe of the dedication and commitment of our HOSA family ever since then. At the end of November, it was an honor and privilege for Rachael and I, alongside Sarah Walters, HOSA Deputy Executive Director, and Jim Scott, Chairman of the HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors, to attend the 2022 Association for Career and Technical Education’s CareerTech VISION Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada!
What a wonderful experience it was to represent HOSA-Future Health Professionals, forming connections, and meeting new friends of HOSA! HOSA was also proud to sponsor the Health Science Education Opening Session and Luncheon.
It was through this conference that I was reaffirmed in my belief of the impact HOSA can have on students — on communities — and on the future of health, and so Rachael and I were especially grateful for the opportunity to thank our advisors, educators, and industry partners at the ACTE VISION Conference for their role in promoting the engagement our organization is blessed to see after years of unparalleled uncertainty.
And it is because of that reason that I am, through this month’s message to you, announcing the launch of the Inaugural IEC Engagement Award, an award that will be presented on stage at the 2023 International Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas to the one HOSA Chartered Association that engages the most with IEC-sponsored programming, events, challenges, etc. in the coming year; specifically, via five measured categories:
- Membership
- Service Project
- Social Media Engagement
- Conferences
- IEC and Partner Programming Participation
Specific metrics and assessed point values can be found on the opportunity created by HOSA-Future Health Professionals entitled “2022-2023 International Executive Council Engagement Award,” which is due by May 15, 2023.
The summarized metrics and points can also be found at the following link: hosa.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/IEC-Engagement-FINAL.pdf.
Each Chartered Association is entitled one submission, and the submission may only be made by the State Advisor OR by a State Officer with State Advisor approval.
Let the games begin…. the IEC looks forward to seeing which Chartered Association will be crowned the “champs” at the 2023 International Leadership Conference!!!
Your International Executive Council is so proud to serve you this coming year, and we look forward to releasing more opportunities and avenues by which you can engage with our organization over the course of the coming months.
At heart, we are proud and humbled to have each and every one of you at the table with us in achieving those goals we all hold dear — joining together to transform health science education in our country and across the globe.
The time hasn’t come to stop “rising to the moment.” As the new year is around the corner, I hope you’ll take the opportunity to do exactly that.
With love — today, tomorrow, and always,
Kartik
