Emilie Holmes - Postsecondary/Collegiate Vice President

“Human knowledge is never contained in one person. It grows from the relationships we create between each other and the world, and still it is never complete.” – Paul Kalanithi

Emilie’s HOSA story can be summarized in a single word: connection. As a middle schooler who read more than she spoke, she joined HOSA and discovered a different way of obtaining knowledge: through connecting with the incredible members of HOSA. Emilie realized our individual understanding is finite and colorless until it is varied and painted by the collective knowledge, stories, and aspirations of those around us. Beyond gifting her the privilege of cultivating deep connections, HOSA truly illustrated all that was attainable.

Emilie is guided by the resolve that when we recognize ourselves in others, sharing the same ambitions, frailties, and dreams, we cannot be divided. Through this lens of unity, she seeks to serve the membership, empowering every member to look past self-doubt and recognize their own immense potential as the future of healthcare.

Throughout her six years in HOSA, Emilie has explored her interests in advocacy, public health, and policy reform. Now a sophomore at Brown University, majoring in Public Health on the pre-medical track, she is determined to become a public health physician. Whether conducting research, volunteering her time, or advocating for legislative equity, Emilie looks forward to a future serving diverse patient populations, driven by the philosophy that the highest call of leadership is the willingness to serve.

Outside of HOSA, Emilie thoroughly enjoys time spent soaking up the sun. You can often find her kayaking through the Florida springs, catching a massive wave on her boogie board, or exploring a scenic walking trail. And once the sun sets on her outdoor escapades, she enjoys listening to her 74-hour Spotify playlist on shuffle or winding down with a movie and a heaping pile of ice cream.

Humbled to serve on your International Executive Council, Emilie aims to redefine the standard by learning from fellow members, encouraging others to see themselves as she sees them, and never, ever, stop being curious.
