Before joining HOSA, Akshaj felt lost in his career goals and orientation. HOSA gave him not only the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about the medical field, but the opportunity to serve. Being a 4-year HOSA member has helped guide Akshaj to the fields of environmental health and ecology.

In competing in the Epidemiology competitive event, Akshaj learned how to deal with failure and come back stronger, placing 4th at the International Leadership Conference in 2025. Epidemiology also brought upon a love for the field of public health and disease awareness.

Serving as the International Eastern Region Vice President, Akshaj aims to connect smaller states and delegations across the eastern region due to his hailing from the state of Delaware. He is excited to serve alongside a wonderful executive team.

Outside of HOSA, Akshaj is a first-year undergraduate student at Yale University (Boola Boola!), studying Environmental Science and Ecology/Evolutionary Biology. He loves cooking, going to the gym, and playing basketball. He also loves listening to yacht rock and metal.

HOSA had allowed Akshaj to gain so much valuable experience, and he hopes to give back to the community that supported him.
