Surgeon General Announces Turn the Tide Rx Campaign

HOSA-Future Health Professionals was honored to have Surgeon General Vivak Murthy with us at HOSA's 2016 International Leadership Conference and we are pleased to join his Turn the Tide Rx movement against the opioid epidemic.  Every day, more than 75 people in our country die from a prescription drug or heroin overdose. In 2013, nearly 249 million prescriptions were written for opioids – enough for every adult in America to have a bottle of pills.


2016 HOSA Hall of Fame Inductees

HOSA-Future Health Professionals  is pleased to unveil its new Hall of Fame. The HOSA Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize individuals, companies, associations and government agencies who have rendered outstanding service to HOSA, health and biomedical science education and the health industry.  Members were inducted into the Hall of Fame during HOSA's 40th Anniversary Celebration at the 2016 International Leadership Conference Opening Session on June 22 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. 

2016 HOSA Washington Leadership Academy

HOSA invites all State Officers and Local Chapter Leaders to join us in Washington, D.C. for the 10th Annual Washington Leadership Academy (WLA). WLA features dynamic workshops and interactive activities to teach HOSA leaders to be better advocates of HOSA’s mission and vision.  This action-packed experience is the highest level of leadership development for HOSA-Future Health Professionals.  Learn more at

The week-long seminar is hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) with support from the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General (OSG) and the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS).

Health Leader of the Year

Congratulations to CAPT Rob Tossatto, USPHS, for receving the Commissioned Officers Association of the USPHS Health Leader of the Year Award.  Captain Tosatto is the Director of the Medical Reserve Corps, a member of the HOSA-100 National Advisory Council and longtime supporter of HOSA.  The COA Health Leader of the Year Award was established in 1987 to recognize individuals who have made notable contributions to the health of the Nation.  Contributions can be in research, administration, service delivery, or some other area of public health.


2016 HCA-Philip R. Patton - HOSA Scholarship

HOSA-Future Health Professionals is announcing an additional $15,000 in scholarship dollars to fifteen deserving scholarship recipients representing the HCA-Philip R. Patton - HOSA Scholarship Program. Fifteen HOSA members will be recognized during HOSA's International Leadership Conference in Nashville on Wednesday, June 22 at a VIP Scholarship Dinner prior to the Opening General Session.
